‘Eclipse’ Screened For ‘Oprah’ Audience: Reviews and Reactions
IM SOO JEALOUS
COPIED AND PASTE
In the midst of the confusion yesterday where we tried to figure out what exactly was going on with the “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” world premiere, some very, very, very lucky “Oprah” guests we invited quietly to a little premiere of their own. Oprah taped her “Eclipse” show — set to air next May 13 — today, and to prepare her guests to ask topical questions to Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Dakota Fanning, she showed them an early cut of “Eclipse.”
Yes, you read that right. Some “Twilight” fans have already seen “Eclipse,” and they probably aren’t you. But Twi-hards aren’t the greedy type, and quickly took to Twitter to share their wealth of information with the world. In between the “OME!!”s and drooling, we were able to pick out some pretty interesting information that of course we are going to share with you.
There had been some concern after the final “Eclipse” trailer premiered that this third installment in the “Twilight Saga” would sacrifice the love story for the action (apparently everyone forgot the first trailer, which showed us otherwise). The unanimous response was that the love story is definitely still there, and it is very hot and heavy. This means, yes, the leg hitch, the tent scene and Bella and Jacob’s kiss all make the final cut, and, as one Twitter user claimed, were enough to “get her turned on.” And yes, the scene where Bella punches Jacob is also included, though we never doubted that it wouldn’t be in the film.
But that doesn’t mean that the action wasn’t great either. This was an early cut of the film so some of the animation was still a bit off, but everyone seemed to think that it was the best action of the series. The fact Jasper was featured quickly but clearly in the second trailer’s fight scene tipped us off to the fact that he and Alice were going to be pretty prominent in the action sequences, but apparently they get a lot more face time throughout the entire film, and actually get a chance to really interact with each other. Unfortunately, Jackson Rathbone’s wig is supposed to be pretty bad, but Kristen’s is better since the first trailer.
Which brings us to some other exciting news: everyone loved Jasper and Rosalie’s flashbacks. We already knew that Jasper would be seen horse back in Civil War regalia, but apparently this was news to other people. As far as Rosalie’s flashback goes, we read that her entire conversation with Bella lasts about five minutes, but the actual flashback is only about two minutes. This is kind of a let-down, but if a picture is worth a thousand words we’re guessing David Slade was able to do a lot with those two minutes.
It’s been a bit of a trend that fans keep labeling the newest director in each “Twilight” film as being better than all the previous ones (sorry, Catherine Hardwicke). Unsurprisingly, there were many claims that David Slade did a great job with “Eclipse” and that he’s the best director yet, which is exactly what Chris Weitz predicted back when everyone was rallying around him after “New Moon.” This also is allegedly the funniest of all the “Twilight” films so far, so if David can top “Face Punch,” we’re going to be really impressed.

SCHERMI D’AMORE 2010
The award winners at the International Festival of Film Melodrama
AUDIENCE PRIZE – THE SCHERMI D’AMORE ROSE
The Schermi d’Amore Rose goes to the film Little Ashes (Great Britain – Spain, 2009) directed by Paul Morrison.
This year it was once again the audience who awarded the prize at the 14th festival dedicated to romantic films and melodrama.
Winner of Schermi d’Amore in 1999 with Solomon and Gaenor, which had its world première in Verona, Paul Morrison’s was among the five foreign films nominated for Oscars the following year. Now the refined British director has once again been recognized for his talent with a biopic which takes him from Wales in the 1910s (the setting for Solomon and Gaenor) to the Spain of the 1920s, for a tragic love story. The tormented relationship between Federico García Lorca (1899–1936) and Salvador Dalí (1904–1989), which the painter – after the Andalusian dramatist’s execution by Franco’s supporters – kept secret until the final years of his life. The Surrealist genius – played by Robert Pattinson before starring in Twilight – is portrayed during his university years, torn between his attraction for the author of Sonnets of Dark Love and his desire for fame and fortune, which would take him to Paris with the director Luis Buñuel (1900–1983), the third legendary Spanish figure with whom he would create the famous short, Un chien andalou (1929).

Summit Schedules ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’
YAY!
COPIED AND PASTE
With a director firmly locked in for the final adaptation, Summit Entertainment has scheduled a release date for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. Twilighters, mark your calendars for November 18, 2011.
The official date puts the Twilight movie in conflict with WB’s Happy Feet 2 in 3D and Disney’s robot fighting movie Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman.
However, Summit has had success on the same weekend with the original Twilight and its follow-up New Moon, so it’s no surprise they’re staking a claim to the pre-Thanksgiving weekend again. It’ll be interesting to see if the other studios reschedule their films to get out of the way of the teen phenomenon or stand their ground and fight it out.
Dreamgirls director Bill Condon was officially signed last week, confirming rumors of an A-list filmmaker finishing the saga. Series author Stephenie Meyer has also stepped into a producer role for the first time.
There has been no word from the studio on whether the fourth and final novel will be split into two films, though Deadline sources say “it will be two pics.” That decision won’t be announced until producers receive a finished script from screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and executives renegotiate the contracts of its talent for the added fifth film. As we previously reported, the series’ stars only signed for four movies, so if Summit wants to milk the series for one more movie they’ll have to pay for it.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson already made a reported $7.5 million salary (plus gross percentages) for this June’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and 18-year-old Taylor Lautner is becoming increasingly, inexplicably sought after in Hollywood. Their representation will push hard for another pay increase, especially considering how vital they are to the franchise and how badly Summit wants another Twilight movie
